The Air Conditioning Systems and Services business of Ingersoll Rand
provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems that enhance
the quality and comfort of the air in homes and buildings around the
world. Its offerings, under the Trane and American Standard Heating
& Air Conditioning brands, include energy efficient systems, service
and parts support and advanced building controls.
The Estimator - Equipment will be responsible for computing costs
associated with projects, closely interacting with the Account Managers
and Project Managers and assigned project staff to ensure timely
completion of each project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
functions may be assigned.
Responsible for computing cost estimates for materials, purchased
equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.) and other
construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding on
or determining price of project.
Utilizes blueprints and specifications and knowledge of construction
industry to analyze project needs and compile cost estimates.
Responsible for the take-off and pricing of equipment to ensure accuracy
of quantity, proper sizing, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
Selects and prices proper equipment per the plans and specifications.
Creation of preliminary proposal.
Responsible for identifying possible cost savings and/or cost problems
that will occur on various projects.
Maintains competitive advantage and stays abreast of industry trends.
Maintains job-related supplied inventory by recording quantities
required.
Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors for materials.
Obtains discounts and enters discounts into LYNX.
Documents work by maintaining files for each job.
Obtains and validates vendor quotes.
Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting with Account Manager to
review scope, strategy and makes any necessary changes.
Generates and distributes final proposal.
Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifed candidates will have a Associate's degree in
engineering, engineering technology or business management or one to
three years experience in estimating, engineering or construction
management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with the operation of HVAC systems and temperature controls.
Strong communication skills, advanced computer skills, must be able to
work on a team successfully with others and work independently.
